‘Happy are those’: Wisdom from the Psalms on happiness, wellbeing and caring for mental health.
Speaker: Rev Dr Isabelle Hamley, Principal of Ridley Hall, Cambridge
Isabelle Hamley has been a parish priest, a university chaplain, chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury and now serves as Principal of Ridley Hall, Cambridge. She is passionate about Scripture and the way it speaks into the life of the world and of the church. She has written extensively on issues of justice, violence, trauma and mental health; her books include God of Justice and Mercy: A Theological Commentary on the Book of Judges; Embracing Justice; Struggling with God (with Chris Cook and John Swinton); and Embracing Humanity.
On Monday 3 March, Isabelle will speak at the University of Sheffield, The Diamond, 32 Leavygreave Road, Sheffield, S3 7RD. After light refreshments in Work Room 2 from 7pm, the lecture will be downstairs in Lecture Room 7 from 7.30-9.00pm. This evening event is offered particularly for those who are not able to attend on Tuesday.
Tuesday morning will be a repeat of the Monday lecture, and then on Tuesday afternoon we shall explore further some of the practical issues of wellbeing raised in the morning lecture, in conversation with a panel of guests, chaired by Rt Rev Dr Pete Wilcox, Bishop of Sheffield.
This event is particularly for clergy and authorised/licensed lay ministers. Others who are involved in church ministries are also very welcome.
