This year churches across the Rotherham Deanery are invited to be inspired and equipped to share the Good News of Jesus with family, friends, and colleagues by joining together through Lent in the Talking Jesus Course.

Conversations with Christians are one of the most important influences in bringing people to faith, and yet many of us are not confident about sharing our faith in Jesus with friends, family and colleagues.

Drawing on encouraging research carried out in 2022, the Talking Jesus course seeks to inspire us to share our faith with confidence and give practical suggestions to help us be natural and relevant as we talk about Jesus with the people we meet.

The course has six encouraging, video-based sessions with short films, inspirational short testimonies, real-life examples from people who are talking Jesus, and the chance to discuss further in groups and to pray and worship together.

Rev. Phil Barringer, Team Rector in The Rivers Team Ministry says, “We’re looking forward to joining with others across the Rotherham Deanery and beyond as we host the Talking Jesus course in Catcliffe and online because the Talking Jesus research suggests that the good news we have to share about Jesus is good news that people are more open to hearing than we might think, and this course will help us all do that more effectively.”

Rev. Canon Phil Batchford, Vicar of Rotherham Minster and Co-Area Dean of Rotherham says “We are really excited to be a part of this deanery initiative. In God’s grace the Talking Jesus talk research will help us grow in confidence in sharing the good news with those around us.”
