Celebrating 125 years of Christ Church Hackenthorpe

A special Fun Day is taking place on Sunday 28 July as part of celebrations for the 125th anniversary of Christ Church Hackenthorpe.

From 12.30pm-2pm, the Fun Day will include free food, a children’s entertainer and activities. This will be followed at 2.30pm by a celebration service for all ages, which will include the licensing of Revd Claire Welch, Curate in Charge at Christ Church, as Priest in Charge and Oversight Minister. The Bishop of Doncaster, the Rt Revd Sophie Jelley, will be in attendance for the service.

The Christ Church Hackenthorpe team said:

“Christ Church Hackenthorpe has been a key part of the community for over a century. Many people are connected, having had loved ones baptised, married and laid to rest here. We are a growing congregation who likes to welcome new people. We meet each Sunday at 10am and have various activities taking place during the week. Including, a craft group, a walking group, and an exercise group. Maybe there is something for you? We are pleased to announce that Rev Claire Welch, who has been with us as a Curate in Charge for the past year, is joining us as Priest in Charge and Oversight Minister. She will be helping to lead us into the next stage of our journey. We are excited for all that is to come, and for the next 125 years!”

Revd Claire Welch said:

“Christ Church has a rich history of ministry and mission within Hackenthorpe. I am delighted to be joining the church at this time and I am excited for all that God will do. The people here are remarkably faithful, loving and gifted. They have a heart for their local community and they have begun to see signs of new life. My prayer that we will continue to grow in our love for God, each other and our wider community and see more signs of God’s kingdom at work among us.”
