Diocese Launches Net Zero Quick Wins Grant

The Diocese of Sheffield has opened applications for the Net Zero Quick Wins Grant.

The grant is offered to support Churches with small-scale decarbonisation projects and is funded by a pot of money that has been awarded to the Diocese by the Church of England Net Zero Programme. The funding forms part of the Diocesan Action Plan to work towards Net Zero Carbon by 2030.

90 churches who have completed the Energy Footprint Tool have already been offered a £100 grant for LED lighting funded by this scheme. Applications are now open for churches to apply for funding towards some actions from the Practical Path to Net Zero. Examples of eligible projects could be draught proofing, under pew heating or motion sensors for lighting.

Further information about the Net Zero Quick Wins grant, including a full list of eligible works is available here: https://www.sheffield.anglican.org/support/for-churches/social-transformation/net-zero-quick-wins-grant/ . The Grant Panel will meet every 3 months and the deadline for the first round of funding is 5pm on 30th November. Caroline Langston, Mission Area Support Team “These small grants can really help to make small but important changes. It is great that we have these funds from the national church to allocate locally.”

David Castle, Net Zero Programme Manager: “There are lots of simple things that can help to reduce energy use and carbon emissions, improve comfort and save money, and I’m delighted that we now have the opportunity to support parishes to make these small but important steps.  For instance, tackling draughts and improving heating controls can cut heating bills significantly, but are relatively cheap to do, and I’m looking forward to seeing how parishes take advantage of this important initiative.”
