Arise Rotherham: ‘maybe we could pray together?’

The backbone of Arise Rotherham is individuals getting out to pray for streets in their area. In many ways this simplicity is the genius of the project. Whenever you have some time available, you can simply go and pray.

There is a little more to it than that, of course. It would be wise to check out the prayerwalking map on our app first. That way, you can find streets that have not yet been visited. Register here: https://rotherham25.prayerwalk.app.

Having prayed, log the streets you have walked on the app as we aim to turn the map gold. Our prayer is that lots of individuals from many churches will engage in this over the month of March, some prayer walking ‘virtually’ because they have mobility constraints: this is just as valuable!

Prayerwalking events

But, what about organising a church prayer walk for Arise Rotherham? Could you set up one event (more if you like) during the month where people can set out together? This might really encourage those who feel a bit nervous and together you could cover a good size area. All you would need to do it is to give people a date, a time and a place to meet.

If Arise Rotherham knows about your church prayer walking event, we can publicise it. Each week, the mailing to Arise Rotherham contacts will have a list of events taking place in case others wish to join you. Send details of your event to John Hibberd at info@ariserotherham.org. John is going to try to pray in places right across the borough, so he will also be announcing prayerwalks each week that he plans to do – others are welcome to join him.

Arise Rotherham Badges

We have an order in for 300 simple badges with the Arise Rotherham logo. These will be available at the launch event on Sat 1 March. We will also look at other ways to distribute them. You can have one free of charge if you intend to prayer walk in your area. They are obviously entirely optional but we thought they might create a bit of a visual impact and perhaps elicit questions from people you meet, an opportunity to ask them for any prayer needs and to share something of the good news of Jesus.
