The Bishop of Doncaster, Peter Burrows, will have an early opportunity next Wednesday (29 February 10am-12.30pm) to meet Church of England School headteachers, Chairs of Governors or their representatives and DBE (Diocesan Board of Education) members from the Diocese of Sheffield at a Leadership and Governance event organised by the Diocesan Board of Education at Doncaster College’s, The Hub.
Following his recent appointment as Bishop of Doncaster, Bishop Burrows now has the brief to oversee the work of the Board of Education in the Diocese.
The Board of Education oversees the work of 39 primary schools across the Diocese and supports Rossington All Saints Academy, Doncaster.
Heather Morris, the Sheffield Diocesan Director of Education, said today that she hoped the event would give people the chance to hear Bishop Peter’s first thoughts on his new role concerning education as well as to engage in an early conversation with him about some of the key issues involved: “This event comes early in Bishop Peter’s diary showing how important we believe it is.”
Other speakers on the day include Craig Lee Headteacher at St Mary’s CE Primary School and Executive Headteacher at Darfield All Saints CE Primary School in Barnsley (both schools to be Academies) and two representatives of Lee Bolton Monier-Williams Solicitors.
Booking forms for the event are available at www.sheffield.anglican.org/index.php/home/courses-and-events .
