Lord’s Prayer is Lent Focus

The Bishop of Sheffield, Dr Steven Croft (Sheffield Cathedral) and the new Bishop of Doncaster, Peter Burrows (Doncaster Minster) will be hosting five Lent evenings entitled ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ on consecutive Wednesdays beginning on 29 February (7.30pm).

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (22 February) and is marked by Christians as a time of prayer, study and reflection the time spent by Jesus in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights.

The bishops will explore key themes relating to the Lord’s Prayer which features in most Christian acts of worship and is one of the few prayers taught by Jesus to his disciples. The themes will cover many aspects of living the Christian life in today’s culture.

The Bishop of Doncaster, Peter Burrows, said today: “In both Sheffield Cathedral and Doncaster Minster we will be attempting to unpack some of the mystery of this great prayer. We are especially looking forward to welcoming adults and young people who are preparing for confirmation and baptism but these session are open to all.”
