Developing Discipleship - Foundations of Faith
Last Updated on Friday, 27 January 2012 11:41
"Foundations of Faith" in Sheffield Diocese is a lay training programme which is perhaps more than most parishes can usually offer, but which is less demanding than other training opportunities in the Diocese in terms of academic level, length of course, and/or being tailored to a specific interest or ministry.
The course is not run centrally, but on a rolling programme in parishes across the diocese, so can be particularly helpful as a basis for groups of churches (or a deanery) to explore learning together.

ALIVE TO THE WORD! -
AN ECUMENICAL GATHERING
at Sheffield cathedral
on Saturday march 17th 2012
10.00am until 4.00pm
‘When you preach, the greatest visual aid available is you. If you are energised and inspired by what you are saying then it will be the most powerful communication of all. Whether we like it or not, or realise it or not, whenever we open our mouths it is the music of our speech and the dance of our body language that is communicating most powerfully.... If you are not turned on by what you are saying, little surprise if no one else is. But if you are excited by your content then the excitement itself will be the very best visual aid.’

Clergy Companion Training Sessions
Last Updated on Monday, 06 February 2012 11:14
Further to Chairs of the Houses of Clergy meeting at Launde Abbey earlier this year, I am pleased to be able to tell you that the House of Clergy at General Synod unanimously endorsed the proposals for an insurance scheme with EIG and for the development of a network of trained clergy “companions” to support colleagues facing proceedings under Clergy Terms of Service.
The Standing Committee of the House of Clergy subsequently also set up a small working group to carry forward the latter proposal.
Ministry Division have assisted to arrange dates for the training sessions for clergy companions.
