The Diocesan Synod will meet at St Peter’s Warmsworth, Doncaster on Saturday 21st November when the Synod will consider Bishop Steven’s Vision and Strategy for the Diocese following his further consultation with deaneries. It is hoped that the Synod will endorse the vision so that it can be promoted widely in all parishes.
General Synod accepted the “Giving for Life” initiative at its July session and asked dioceses to encourage church members to live generously as disciples of Jesus Christ giving of their time and skills and re-confirmed the challenge for members to assess their financial contribution by giving a target of 5% of their after-tax income to and through the church and a similar amount to other work that builds God’s Kingdom. Mr. Nick Hutton the Diocesan Christian Giving Director and who was a member of the task group that prepared the report will speak on Giving for Life.
The Synod will consider its own financial position with the 2010 budget presentation, and there will be a progress report on environmental issues in the Diocese.
