The Bishop of Sheffield, Dr Steven Croft, will be visiting the Laughton Deanery tomorrow (21st October) as part of his series of initial visits to every part of the Diocese.
Dr Croft, who became Bishop earlier this year, is meeting clergy and laity right across South Yorkshire.
The day will begin with a meeting of all clergy from the deanery at All Saints’ Aston. A deanery is a group of parishes which work together in a part of the Diocese.
After lunch at the Red Lion, Todwick, Dr Croft will go to St James’ Anston to see a ‘Church & Community’ display before joining the pupils and staff of Woodsetts School for an ‘Open the Book’ assembly.
Maltby is the final venue for the daytime programme where he will tour the new Services Centre
In the evening, at St John the Baptist, Wales, there is a short service followed by a live interview with the new Bishop in which he will be asked questions about his new role.
The interview will be followed by an opportunity for the congregation to ask questions.
“The deanery days are proving to be hugely rewarding and I am looking forward to Laughton very much, “ said Dr Croft today.
